Hoy día hay padres que prefieren esperar a que sus hijos crezcan para que, cuando tengan suficiente capacidad de tomar decisiones propias, puedan decidir libremente si se bautizan o no. La razón parece lógica: las decisiones que tienen consecuencias importantes han de ser libremente tomadas, y pocas cosas hay más importantes en la vida que incorporarse o no a la Iglesia, que ser cristiano o no.
