The most traditional charity flea market in the Salamanca neighborhood

For the twenty-seventh year in a row, between November 17 and 21, the Social Action Board (PAS) of the CARF Foundation organized its traditional charity market for the benefit of the formation of diocesan priests, seminarians and religious.

The solidarity flea market, one of the most traditional in the Spanish capital, was once again held in the halls of the parish of San Luis de los franceses in the Salamanca neighborhood.

The event improved on last year's success. Thanks to the work of the volunteers of the PASa record collection was achieved, covering the costs of all the backpacks of sacred vessels which are given each year to seminarians about to be ordained, and exceeding the full amount to finance more than one scholarship.

From early Friday morning, many Madrid antique dealers, faithful to their annual appointment and aware of the value and quality of the objects on sale, came to the premises of Padilla Street, 9. The flea market was also attended that same morning by the following people Angela Gomabedigital marketing and social media expert, and Conchita Albertfashion and décor influencer and co-founder of the online platform Coco and Manuela.

The team behind the charity market

Rosana Diez-Canseco and Carmen Ortega, as presidents of the board of trustees, have led a team, mostly female, whose work reaches its peak at the flea market, but which is carried out throughout the year. Month after month, the volunteers receive and catalog the objects to be offered for sale, restore the furniture, knit the baby clothes and embroider the albs that will also be given to the seminarians.

Sacred Vessel Backpack: more than just a tool

The CARF Foundation's PAS is the driving force behind the iconic sacred vessels backpacks, items that touch the souls of future ordinands. These backpacks go beyond being a mere tool; they allow priests to carry with them everything they need to impart the sacraments in a dignified manner, even in the most remote corners of the world.
