Working with young people and the demands of today's society are the challenges that made me continue with my academic training.

Name: Siro Eliseo Soto Romero
Age: 30 years
Situation: Priest
Origin: Inmaculada Concepción de Loja, Ecuador
Study: Degree in Theology from the University of Navarra, Pamplona, Spain.

I wish to continue my formation in order to meet the challenges of my diocese.

Siro Eliseo Soto Romero is a priest belonging to the Diocese of Loja, Ecuador. He is studying for a Licentiate in Moral-Spiritual Theology at the University of Navarra.

"I was born in a humble town called Zapotillo, in the province of Loja-Ecuador.

I grew up in a family of nine siblings, of which only I am religious. My family, being large, has a middle social class, that's why our parents, with much sacrifice, have brought us up, showing their great love for us.

In 2008 I entered the Queen of the Swan Major Seminary of my Diocese, and in 2016 I was ordained a priest.

My pastoral work for three years in my Diocese was as parochial vicar and as delegate of Vocational Ministry.

Working with young people and the demands of today's society presented me with greater and greater challenges, which led me to consider continuing my academic formation. With the coming of my bishop I was able to leave and pursue my licentiate studies at the University of Navarra. With God's grace I have successfully completed my first year."

I can't find a way to repay such a great effort and manifestation of love towards us.

"I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all of you who are helping me with great sacrifice in my undergraduate studies.

I do not find a way to repay such a great effort and manifestation of love towards us. But the only thing I have to offer you is my simple prayers for you, so that the Lord may grant them
abundant health and perseverance in this journey of faith.

May the Lord accompany you at every moment, and may our holy and good Mother the Virgin cover you with her maternal mantle."

Supports a vocation anywhere in the world

full scholarship of 18,000 euros is the amount necessary for a candidate to live and study for one year at their university locations, whether in Rome or Pamplona. The neediest dioceses in the world require a full scholarship for their candidates. In many cases, the diocese covers part of this cost and a lesser amount is required, which is always indicated with the candidate's application.

What does a full scholarship consist of?

More than 800 bishops from all five continents request study grants for their candidates through scholarships. Thanks to benefactors like you, CARF meets most of the requests, but the needs are growing and we want all requests to be met.

In the graph you can see the composition of a full scholarship.

  • Room and board: 11.000€.
  • Tuition and fees: 3.500€.
  • Academic training supplement: €3,500

If there were no priests, there would be no Church. Let no vocation be lost for lack of resources.
