Pedro Manuel Olveira Hernández is a seminarian of the Archdiocese of Caracas (Venezuela).
"My vocation to the priesthood comes after another vocation to which I owe my life: the vocation to Opus Dei.
In 2014 I got to know the Work, and after a few months I asked to be admitted as a supernumerary. After a couple of years attending the means of formation and living the sacraments with great intensity, I felt that the Lord was asking me for more. So I got involved in supporting more corporate work of the Work, specifically the Monteávila University in Caracas.
But I still continued to feel that the Lord wanted more from me. Until one day, talking to the Lord, I heard his call. At that moment I was afraid. I thought that this could not be, because I felt I was the least suitable man on earth for the priesthood. And although I did not dare to talk about it with anyone, I kept taking him to prayer again and again. After a while, while reading a book called "La Virgen Nuestra Señora", by Federico Suarez, I finally said yes to the Lord and I felt the greatest joy I have ever felt.
It was then, a year and a half after that, that I finally dared to talk about it with the Regional Vicar of the Prelature in Venezuela, and I gave him a letter in which I told the Prelate everything. Hand in hand with the Work, I spoke with the Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Caracas, who welcomed me with great affection as a seminarian of the Archdiocese, sending me immediately to the University of Navarra to train me for the priesthood.
There are very beautiful details that showed me very clearly that this whole process was totally providential, and that make me thank the Lord every day of my life; also asking Him to help me always to do His will and not mine".
"Again, thank you for betting on us.
My family, my Archdiocese and my fellow Seminarians commend you in our prayers.
Finally, do not fail to pray also for me, that the Good Lord may bring to a happy conclusion the good work he has begun."
Supports a vocation anywhere in the world
A full scholarship of 18,000 euros is the amount necessary for a candidate to live and study for one year at their university locations, whether in Rome or Pamplona. The neediest dioceses in the world require a full scholarship for their candidates. In many cases, the diocese covers part of this cost and a lesser amount is required, which is always indicated with the candidate's application.
What does a full scholarship consist of?
More than 800 bishops from all five continents request study grants for their candidates through scholarships. Thanks to benefactors like you, CARF meets most of the requests, but the needs are growing and we want all requests to be met.
In the graph you can see the composition of a full scholarship.
