The Nithin story

"My name is Nithin Thomas. I was born on May 23, 1996 in Pullur, in the state of Kerala in India. In my family we are five in total. Mr. Thomas PD is my father's name and he died on June 13, 2010 when I was in 10th grade. Mrs. Jaisy Thomas is my mother's name and she works in Dental Lab in Kerala. I have an elder sister and her name is Mrs. Neethu Jomon. She married Mr. Jomon. Mr.Nikhil Thomas is my younger brother's name and he is studying for graduation. I was born in a Catholic family and my last name is Payyappilly.

We are following the rite of the Syro-Malabr Church, which is one of the individual Catholic churches from which the recent saints, namely St. Alhopnsa, St. Chavara Kuriakos and St. Euphrasia, and recently St. Mariam Theresa, emerged into the Catholic Church.

We have been following the Catholic faith and as a result we are participating in Holy Mass every day. I received the Sacrament of Baptism on August 4, 1996 and Holy Communion on May 6, 2006. By the grace of God, I received the Sacrament of Confirmation on May 5, 2007.

Every day in our families we practice family prayer consisting of the Holy Rosary, Litanies and Bible reading and intercessory prayer. Therefore, I am proud to be a Christian, especially a Catholic.

My desire to become a priest is seeded by the exemplary model of my parents and the example of many priests. First of all, I feel that my vocation is an ineffable gift from God because there were many friends who were more talented than me, but God chose me to react as Christ did in this world. Vocation is to serve others and to love others. We must act and practice the way Jesus Christ did in this world. Be wise and generous enough to others. Be a merciful companion to others. As Pope Francis says be a good shepherd who knows the smell of the sheep."
