"I am Michael Kanwagale Lusato, a seminarian from the Diocese of Bunda, Tanzania, and I live here at the International Ecclesiastical College, Sedes Sapientiae. I am studying for a Licentiate in Canon Law at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (first year). My years in Rome so far have been very interesting, among the unforgettable things are: the closeness to the Holy Father (performing liturgical service), the fraternity created at the university and the college and the formation I received and continue to receive at Sedes Sapientiae. God willing, I will be ordained deacon (along with the other two seminarians) on May 24, 2020 here at the College.
The previous academic year I finished my theology studies (first cycle) at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, and subsequently my bishop had already asked the college for a place to study for a degree in Canon Law and the college accepted. My bishop asked for this because in our diocese we have few canonical priests and therefore the service that the faithful need is not given as it should be and at the right time. Another reason why in the major theological seminaries (in Tanzania) there are not enough canonists (professors) to teach this subject. That is why my bishop asked me to study the Bachelor of Canon Law. I am happy to study this subject believing that it is God's will for service in His Church.
Thank you very much for your help all these years. I know that without you I would not be able to study theology or canon law here in Rome. What you do for me and for other seminarians, deacons and priests is pleasing in the eyes of God.
Please continue to help me pay for my studies and my house here in Rome so that God's will may be done in me. I assure you of my prayers and ask God to bless you and all that you do in your daily life and give you all that you need in your earthly life and eventually in eternal life. Thank you very much and God bless you."
