José Alejandro García is a priest of the Diocese of Santa Rosa de Lima in Guatemala. He is the eldest of four siblings in a Catholic family.
"I was ordained a priest 10 years ago.
When I completed my first year of ordination, I was named pastor of a rural parish of about 28,000 inhabitants.
Since last September 03, 2018. Thanks to God and to you, I am pursuing studies in Canon Law at the University of Navarra.
The first days away from my country were full of mixed feelings. Days of adapting to a new life program.
I am staying about 25 minutes from the university, which makes it easy for me to get to my classes without difficulty. My residence is called Los Tilos and I share the residence with 12 priests from Nicaragua, Mexico, Italy, Brazil, China, Poland and Tanzania.
One aspect that I want to share is the following: In the UNAV, the universality of the Church is lived, in my course, we are 14 priests coming from different nations. The professors are well prepared, very human and make an effort to transmit the contents faithfully.
Between prayer, study and fraternal fellowship, we are formed every day, aware of what we need to know in order to better serve the Church.
The confinement due to Covid was lived intensely in the residence. We could stop to pray more, to cook and to do group activities in our residence. In September of this year, I was diagnosed positive for Covid19. Thank God, I overcame the virus after 17 days without major complications.
This experience, makes one think of and commend all those who have been infected by this virus."
Thank you for allowing me to be formed to better serve the People of God.
"I will continue my formation, feeling fortunate to be in this place, knowing that my formation will help others. Thank you for allowing me to be formed to better serve the People of God.
Thank you for making it possible, with your financial contribution, I remember you especially at Holy Mass. He who helps in the formation of a priest raises an altar over his tomb.".
