Vocations to the priesthood are needed to evangelize Japan, just as St. Francis Xavier did.

Name: Masahiro Yuki
Age: 28 years old
Situation: Seminarian
Origin: Oita, Japan
Estudia: Studying Theology at the Bidasoa International Seminary in Pamplona.

I want to be a priest, because the priesthood is a gift from God.

Masahiro Yuki is from Oita, Japan, where only 0.3% of the population is Catholic. Masahiro is the second of two brothers.

"I did my basic studies at Iwata High School and my higher education at Fukuoka University.

In my family only I am Catholic, since school I had a lot of interest in world history, especially about the Church and the Popes. And that's how I got to know the faith a little bit. My interest grew day by day, and that's how I came to Oita Cathedral. I met a priest, a former student of Bidasoa.

At the age of 18 I received the sacrament of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. That was a very special day in my life.

This is the joy I want to share with my family and so I pray to God that they will know Christ."

What does a full scholarship consist of?

full scholarship of 18,000 euros is the amount necessary for a candidate to live and study for one year at their university locations, whether in Rome or Pamplona. The neediest dioceses in the world require a full scholarship for their candidates. In many cases, the diocese covers part of this cost and a lesser amount is required, which is always indicated with the candidate's application.

More than 800 bishops from all five continents request study grants for their candidates through scholarships. Thanks to benefactors like you, CARF meets most of the requests, but the needs are growing and we want all requests to be met.

In the graph you can see the composition of a full scholarship.

  • Room and board: 11.000€.
  • Tuition and fees: 3.500€.
