"I am a Catholic priest of the Diocese of Surabaya. Raised in Jakarta, I have lived in Indonesia, the United States, Spain and Italy. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Surabaya (Latin: Dioecesis Surabayana) is a Latin suffragan diocese located on the island of Java in Indonesia, and administers parishes in the northern and western parts of the province of East Java. Its episcopal see is located in the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Surabaya. The diocese is currently in the period of a vacant see, as its former bishop, Bishop Vincentius Sutikno Wisaksono, passed away on August 10, 2023, leaving the episcopal throne vacant.
My time at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross has been enriching and challenging. Working as an assistant has allowed me to further immerse myself in the study of theology and deepen my understanding of the work of St. Thomas Aquinas.
My dissertation focuses on a fundamental aspect of theology, creation, from the perspective of St. Thomas. Studying his commentaries on Sacred Scripture has been revealing, as it sheds light on his understanding of how God created the world and how human beings relate to that divine creation.
This research process has led me to explore the connections between philosophy and theology, and I am excited to contribute to the understanding of faith from an academic perspective. On this journey, my faith has been strengthened and my commitment to the Church has grown even stronger. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve my diocese and continue my formation in this exciting field of study.".
