"I am Gerald Emmanuel Ongodia, a seminarian in the Diocese of Soroti in Uganda. I have ten siblings: three boys and seven girls, two of whom went to the Lord.
I believe that my vocation was born out of two circumstances. The first began before my birth, I had a painful past, my mother tried to abort me because we were many and the state of life was difficult as they struggled to care for my other older siblings, but thank God the pregnancy continued. The second is that my father is a catechist and I believe that my vocation has its roots in this fact.
I began my formation at St. Peters Madera Minor Seminary, then I joined the Gulu Major Seminary of the Martyrs of Uganda to study philosophy. I then engaged in pastoral work for two years due to the pandemic and finally in 2021 I started my theology studies at Bidasoa International Seminary.
I would like to thank you and my family for giving me the opportunity to continue my formation with your wonderful support. I am happy to be able to study theology here. Without your sacrifices it would not be possible for me to live this beautiful experience on my way to the priesthood.
I encourage you to continue this great work so that many people like me, with economic difficulties, but with an immense desire to become priests, can be helped and supported by your generosity.
In the hope that God will bless you, I will always pray that the Good Lord who began the good in you will bring it to fulfillment.
