Letter from Chairman

Dearest benefactors and friends:

Last June I had the joy of being elected as the new president of the CARF Foundation, replacing José Enrique Fuster who has preceded me, after a tireless work in these past years. We are all very grateful for his help, criteria and cheerful leadership for almost a decade.

So, therefore, it falls to me to present the annual report of activities and results of our beloved CARF Foundation. Reviewing the environment in which we have moved in 2022, it is worth mentioning the global instability: energy crisis, rising raw materials and fuels, war in Ukraine, unstable markets... milestones that have undoubtedly generated concern among all of us. But despite these circumstances, the resources obtained through regular and one-time donations have been a record year in our history. And we have maintained and expanded our economic commitments to the support of the Ecclesiastical Faculties of the University of Navarra and the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross. And with the study and maintenance aids for our students.

However, the year-end was negative. This is due to the fact that the resources obtained through legacies and wills were significantly lower than in 2021. The same was true of the income and revenues obtained from the management of our assets.

This very unstable year, a circumstance that seems to have become a permanent feature, has seen many positive things, such as the deepening and improvement of our communication with benefactors and friends of the CARF Foundation, where a much greater number have been able to
to get to know and put faces and eyes to the students they are helping. In addition, the website offers the possibility of being consulted in 27 languages, so we are already noticing an increase in international traffic on our digital channels. And our social networks are growing steadily thanks to the new impetus of our content strategy. In this brief review, I would like to highlight the enormous effort made by all the professionals working at the CARF Foundation to meet the year's objectives, as well as to adjust operating costs.

My heartfelt thanks to all the companies and institutions that year after year support us so that no vocation of seminarian, priest, religious or nun is lost due to lack of means.

Thanks to the people who support us financially, a little or a lot, but above all to all of you who pray that this great work for the Church throughout the world will continue. Thanks also to the friends, supporters, patrons and alumni of the CARF Foundation. Do not fail to do what is most necessary for this wonderful foundation: pray that all future students can realize their dreams.

A big hug to all,

Fernando.
